Cleaner in Wyberton

Wyberton sits just south-west of Boston on the B1397, effectively a satellite settlement of the town rather than an independent village with its own separate economy or character. With a population of 3,747 and the parish stretching into productive farmland, it's closer to the urban edge than to open countryside, functioning as a logical suburban extension. The Grade I church of St Leodegar dates to the late 12th century and was substantially rebuilt around 1420, sitting as the architectural focal point of a settlement that appears documented in the Domesday Book of 1086, carrying real historical depth. A steam-powered woad mill operated in Wyberton until the early 1900s, part of the dye trade that once ran alongside grain farming, and the Victorian builder William Webster, who later worked on the Thames embankments in London, is said to have started out here. Since the Agricultural Revolution, the land around Wyberton has been methodically drained and farmed, which shaped both the landscape's drainage characteristics and the housing stock that was built to work the land. The cleaning work here is almost a direct extension of Boston's own housing mix and maintenance needs: terraced cottages, 1930s semis, and newer estate homes all with similar problems, all served on the route between Boston and the surrounding villages to the north. The short distance means Wyberton gets included in regular work runs rather than being treated as an outlying stop requiring special scheduling. A mile east of the village, Wyberts Castle, a scheduled moated site occupied from the 12th to 15th centuries, and Wyberton Park, a Grade II* listed former rectory built in 1689, both point to a parish that had real money in it once the Fens were drained and farmed properly.
